Description

OMMAS is an Italian based company specialising in under tree cultivation. When other companies were discarding this concept in favour of chemicals in the sixties and seventies, OMMAS persevered with cultivation knowing it was the best way. Now times are changing back to the old way in Europe because of the trend against chemicals and their side affects thus leaving OMMAS the leader in under tree cultivation. This trend is following through in other countries as OMMAS is exporting worldwide. The benefits of under tree cultivation are vast, to mention a few you get 100% weed control no hit or miss, better wetting and aeration of the soil which encourages healthy root growth and encourages healthy micro-organisms which help breakdown fertilisers and reduced water loss.

OMMAS has models to suit every horticulturalists needs from Discs to Rotary hoes in various configurations. The major attraction of these machines is that they are capable of working the ground right up to the butt of the tree using a very sensitive antenna, which can be triggered by the smallest of trees to pull the cultivator in and out of the rows. These machines have a fully self-contained hydraulic system, 3pl PTO driven.

Professional Hoe and Mower

The "Professional" hoeing machine is a rotary cultivator mounted by a connection third point on the rear side of any tractor of 25HP at least, provided with a 540 RPM P.T.O. for the motion transmission, through cardan shaft.

Its specific function is the tillage between the plants arranged in rows, avoiding with precision and care any damage to the trunks, thanks to the soft action of the feeler antenna (sensor).

The automatic functions can also be repeated or directly controlled from the driving post, thanks to the help of particular devices allowing the adjustment of the equipment according to the specific features of the trees, rows and soil.

The dimensions of the "Professional" hoeing machine enable its use in row systems with constant measures and distances of at least 70cm between the plants and 300cm between the rows.

The recommended speed to obtain the best possible performance is 3-4km/h. Considering an arrangement of rows at 400cm away from one another, four hectares of soil can be tilled every eight hours of work.

The "Professional" quality of operation is secured by different interchangeable heads, such as:

with constant depth control allowing the adaptation to the various types of earth without damaging the plant roots.

The two hydraulic movements of the PROFESSIONAL SUPER:

allow the hydraulic operation of the main movements and perfectly integrate them with the two additional manual regulations; they are operated by the driver from his seat through a two lever box with cables provided in "Professional Super".

Boomerang Hoe

The "Boomerang" Automatic Inter-Row is a sensor controlled inter-stump retractable mechanical hoe, which eliminates weeds between the plants. It attaches to a tractor with rear three point linkage and a power supply of at least25 HP (PDF 540). It is fitted with a cardan shaft for the transmission of movement.

"Boomerang" is a rotary cultivator that tills the soil in the gaps between one plant and the next in any type of row cultivation. The touch sensor is extremely accurate and reliable. It sends a signal to the hydraulic system which reverses the lateral movement, completely avoiding even the most delicate plants. The dimensions of the "Boomerang" enable its use in rows systems with constant measures and distances of at least 70cm between the plants and 250cm between the rows.

The "Boomerang" with 4 hydraulic movements" inter-stump retractable hoe is available in different versions with different tilling methods:

The special shape of the variable angle Hoeing Head allows the "Boomerang"to operate perfectly even in plantation where space or distances are limited, between rows and between plants. The cutting head can cope even with developed weeds, which is particularly useful when unfavourable conditions have delayed weeding operations.

The bladed Harrowing Head, fitted to the "Boomerang" tool post, allows variable depth harrowing without damaging the root systems of the plants when the slope of the ground changes. It completely uproots any weeds and increases the water retention of the worked ground.

The Chopping Head of the "Boomerang" retractable mechanical hoe has a fast and even weed-cutting action. The cut weeds are not immediately broken up and they form a soft surface layer that slows down the re-growth of weeds, provides soil humus, gives protection from weather and encourages the internal defence mechanisms of the plants.

To further increase practicality and usefulness and to make the machine more pleasant to use a modern remote control system has been developed. Flexible cable give complete control of "Boomerang" in any type of terrain or cultivation.

The Boomerang is proposed with connection 3rd point and 4 hydraulic movements:

The new "Boomerang" is the most up-to-date system developed by OMMAS in the mechanical war on weeds.

 Inter Row Disc

The "Rear Ideal Disc" is an interstump tool that can be hooked to rear part of tractors and is activated by an oil dynamic movement.

It's main feature is based on the fact that it can "weed" the earth also at high speed, operating trough its Discs Head in the space existing between one plant and the following one and avoiding the trunks extremely carefully. In addition, by its two complementary operations of "hoeing" and "earthing up", the earth around the plants is always kept well tilled.

The hoeing disc head accomplishes an operation, which is comparable to a light ploughing by moving out the soil from the plant towards the side of the row. By doing so, a complete uprooting of all overgrowing weeds is obtained and at the same time, that small furrow may be used for fertilisation or irrigation builds up.

The appreciable speed of the ridging disc head, in the plant rows, can create rich filling of earth near the trunk, allowing total weed elimination and exceptional soil drainage.

The dimensions of the "Rear Ideal Disc" enable its use in row systems with constant measures and distances of at least 70cm between the plants and 290cm between the rows.

Two important innovating options complete the "Rear Ideal Disc" work:

The REAR IDEAL DISC comes with three hydraulic movements:

that can be activated by the operator from his driving seat, through a three lever box with flexible cables that gives complete control of the "Rear Ideal Disc" in any type of ground or cultivation.

The Rear Ideal Disc is the most up-to-date system developed by OMMAS in the mechanical war on weeds.

 Cutting Knife

New cutting knife design to minimise damage to root zone. The cutting knife is an accessory to the "Rear Ideal disc".
